Herbes et Traditions Camphor EO (Cinnamomum camphora ct camphor) is extracted from the camphor tree by distilling the wood. FAQ
What is the difference between Camphor EO and synthetic camphor?
Natural camphor (extracted from Cinnamomum camphora) is predominantly d-camphor (dextrorotatory), while synthetic camphor is a racemic mixture. Both have the same restrictive safety profile.
Can Camphor EO be diffused?
Yes, in a very small amount (1-2 drops), for a short time, in a ventilated space. Never diffuse in a closed room or in the presence of children, pregnant women, or people with epilepsy.
Is Camphor EO the same as Cinnamomum camphora ravintsara?
No. Same species (Cinnamomum camphora) but a different chemotype. Ravintsara (ct cineole) contains practically no camphor. Camphor (ct camphor) is the most dangerous form. Always check the chemotype on the label.
