Organic Cistus Essential Oil
Are you looking for a rare essential oil with woody, amber, and resinous notes, derived from a Mediterranean scrubland plant, with a unique sesquiterpene and diterpene profile, for regenerative cosmetic care and warm diffusion synergies? The Organic Cistus EO from Herbes et Traditions (Cistus ladaniferus) is extracted by distilling the twigs and leaves of the labdanum cistus. Its very complex biochemical profile—alpha-pinene, camphene, viridiflorol, cedrol, and rare diterpenes—and its balsamic-woody amber fragrance make it a sought-after and precious EO. 5ml. Ecocert organic certified.
Aromatic and cosmetic profile
- Very complex biochemical profile: a unique combination of monoterpenes (alpha-pinene), sesquiterpene alcohols (viridiflorol, ledol), and rare diterpenes specific to cistus.
- Balsamic-woody and amber fragrance: a warm, resinous note, similar to labdanum (cistus resin), reminiscent of the Provençal scrublands. Highly prized in natural perfumery.
- Regenerative cosmetic care for mature skin: incorporated into cosmetic preparations for mature and marked skin for its regenerative properties.
- 5ml: a format suited to this rare and precious EO. Ecocert Organic. Herbes et Traditions.

FAQ
What is the difference between cistus and labdanum?
Labdanum is the raw resin of the cistus plant, extracted manually from the leaves and twigs. Cistus EO is steam-distilled from the same parts. Labdanum absolute (solvent extraction) is used more in fine perfumery. Cistus EO is more accessible and suited to aromatherapy and cosmetics.
Can cistus be used on the face?
Yes, diluted to 1% in a suitable carrier oil (rosehip, argan), it is an interesting cosmetic active for nighttime care of mature skin. Always avoid the eye area.
Which EOs pair with cistus for diffusion?
Sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, and vanilla for balsamic-earthy accords. Lavender or geranium for fresher, floral accords.
