Organic Litsea Citronnée Essential Oil
Are you looking for an essential oil with a very intense and pure lemon scent, rich in citral (neral + geranial), and more concentrated than melissa or verbena, for citrus diffusion in bedrooms or offices and aromatic citrus blends? The Organic Litsea Citronnée Essential Oil from Herbes et Traditions (Litsea cubeba) is distilled from the small fruits of the Chinese pepper tree. With 60-80% citral (neral + geranial), it is the most concentrated source of citral in all of aromatherapy—far more so than melissa (variable citral content) or verbena. 10ml. Ecocert organic certified.
Aromatic and cosmetic profile
- The richest in citral in aromatherapy (60-80%): a combination of neral + geranial (citral isomers) at concentrations unmatched in the world of EOs. Melissa contains 20-40% citral, while Litsea contains 60-80%.
- Pure and intense lemon scent: one of the cleanest and most intense lemon notes in all of aromatherapy. Highly appreciated for diffusion for an immediate and powerful effect.
- Balancing and purifying for cosmetics: used diluted in preparations for oily skin and oily scalps.
- 10ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

FAQ
Is Litsea more lemony than melissa?
Yes, significantly. Litsea contains 60-80% citral compared to 20-40% for melissa (variable by batch). Litsea is the most concentrated and purest source of citral in all of aromatherapy, for an immediate and intense lemon effect in diffusion.
Can Litsea and verbena be substituted in diffusion?
Yes, both are rich in citral. Litsea is more powerful and less expensive. Verbena (Aloysia citrodora) has a more complex profile with more nerol, geraniol, and additional floral nuances. For a pure and intense lemon note, Litsea is preferred.
Where does Litsea Citronnée come from?
Litsea cubeba is native to southern China and Southeast Asia. Its small yellow fruits (resembling pepper berries, hence the nickname Chinese pepper tree) are distilled to produce the EO. China is the world's leading producer.
