Organic Ylang-Ylang Complete Essential Oil
Are you looking for the most captivating and sensual floral-exotic essential oil in all of aromatherapy, rich in benzyl acetate and linalool, with a creamy and intense tropical flower scent, for diffusion blends and hair and body cosmetic care? Herbes et Traditions Organic Ylang-Ylang Complete EO (Cananga odorata, totum) is the complete, non-fractionated distillation of fresh ylang-ylang flowers. Rich in benzyl acetate (25-35%), linalool (10-20%), and farnesene, its floral-exotic profile is one of the most complex and sought-after in natural perfumery. 10ml. Ecocert organic certified.
Aromatic and cosmetic profile
- Complex ester-linalool-sesquiterpene profile: benzyl acetate, linalool, geranyl acetate, farnesene, and germacrene D — a very rich biochemical profile that explains the complexity and depth of the ylang-ylang fragrance.
- Creamy and captivating floral-exotic scent: sweet, tropical-jasmine, very intense. One of the most recognizable notes used in fine perfumery (Chanel No. 5, Joy). Less than a drop is enough for diffusion.
- Reference hair care: ylang-ylang is one of the most frequently used essential oils in hair care for dry and dull hair, applied diluted or in shampoo.
- Totum (complete) vs. fractions: the complete version (totum) is the full, non-fractionated distillation, the richest in sesquiterpenes and the most aromatically balanced.
- 10ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

How to use this essential oil?
Diffusion: 1 to 2 drops maximum in a blend. Ylang is very powerful—more than 3 drops can be cloying. Combines well with bergamot, patchouli, or sandalwood for balanced exotic accords.
Hair care: 3 drops in 20ml of carrier oil (jojoba, coconut). Apply to the lengths and ends. Leave on for 20 minutes.
Body care: 1-2% in a light carrier oil for an exotic scented treatment.
Natural perfume: 1 drop diluted on the wrists or neck as a heart-base note.
Precautions
- Always dilute before skin application
- Use in small quantities: too much ylang can cause nausea or headaches
- Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Not recommended for children under 6 years old
- May cause skin sensitization (benzyl acetate): test on a small area
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
- Store away from heat and light
- Keep out of reach of children
FAQ
What is the difference between ylang-ylang complete and ylang-ylang extra premiere?
Ylang complete (totum) is distilled without interruption: all fractions are combined. Extra premiere (or extra) is the first distilled fraction, the freshest and most expensive, preferred in fine perfumery. The complete is more balanced and more accessible, ideal for aromatherapy and cosmetic care.
Why does ylang-ylang cause headaches in high doses?
In high concentrations, benzyl acetate can cause headaches and nausea. Always use in small quantities (1-2 drops maximum for diffusion). A good test: if the scent seems heavy, it means there is too much.
Is ylang-ylang really good for hair?
Yes, it is a very common traditional cosmetic use: ylang in carrier oil (coconut, jojoba) is renowned for nourishing and adding shine to dry and dull hair. It is a well-established traditional Polynesian practice.
