What is the ButyraGen™ Tributyrin Complex Vit'all+?

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) naturally produced in the colon through the fermentation of dietary fiber by the microbiota. It is the primary fuel for colonocytes (colon cells) and an essential regulator of intestinal barrier integrity. Tributyrin is its lipid precursor: a triester of glycerol and three butyric acid molecules, naturally present in butter. Hydrolyzed by colonic lipases, it releases butyrate directly into the colon where it is needed. ButyraGen™ is a patented complex standardized to 50% Tributyrin, combined with acacia gum, guar gum, rosemary extract, and microcrystalline cellulose. Tributyrin vs. butyrate salts: why it is different

Butyrate salts (sodium butyrate, calcium butyrate) are water-soluble and rapidly absorbed in the small intestine via SMCT1 transporters. Only a tiny fraction reaches the colon where butyrate is actually needed. Tributyrin is a water-insoluble lipid that is not absorbed in the small intestine. It is transported in lipid micelles to the colon, where colonic lipases cleave it into glycerol and 3 molecules of butyric acid released in situ.
