The Shaggy Mane (Coprinus comatus) gets its name from the appearance of its cap, covered with white gills that separate into shaggy scales as it matures. An edible mushroom found in open environments (meadows, roadsides, gardens), it has been used for several centuries in the medicinal traditions of East Asia.
