Organic Castor Vegetable Oil

Are you looking for the thickest vegetable oil richest in ricinoleic acid, with exceptional film-forming and nourishing power, essential for hair care for dry and brittle hair, eyelash and eyebrow care, and moisturizing nail masks? Herbes et Traditions Organic Castor Vegetable Oil (Ricinus communis) is extracted by cold-pressing castor seeds. With 85-90% ricinoleic acid (a unique hydroxyl-omega-9), it is the most film-forming and occlusive vegetable oil in natural cosmetics. External use only. Organic Ecocert.

Cosmetic profile and properties

  • Very rich in ricinoleic acid (85-90%): a hydroxylated fatty acid unique in nature, absent from all other vegetable oils. Its structure gives it exceptional film-forming and occlusive power — no other vegetable oil comes close.
  • Thick and adherent texture: the viscosity of castor oil is the highest among common vegetable oils. It forms a long-lasting protective film on the skin and hair.
  • Benchmark hair care: hair masks for dry, brittle, and split-end hair. Apply to lengths and ends. Used in scalp care preparations.
  • Eyelash and eyebrow care: applied with a clean mascara brush to eyelashes and eyebrows every evening, it is the benchmark natural treatment to strengthen and nourish them.
  • Nail care: massage into dry nails and cuticles. Nourishes and protects effectively.
  • 50ml and 100ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

How to use this vegetable oil?

Hair mask: apply pure or mixed with a lighter vegetable oil (jojoba, argan) to the lengths and ends. Leave on for 30 to 60 minutes or overnight. Rinse with a mild shampoo.

Eyelash and eyebrow care: dip a clean mascara brush into the oil and apply to eyelashes and eyebrows in the evening. Leave on overnight.

Cuticle and nail care: massage a few drops into nails and cuticles 2 to 3 times a week.

Texture tip: to make it more fluid and easier to apply, mix in equal parts with jojoba or macadamia oil.

Precautions

  • External use only — do not ingest
  • Test on a small area of skin before first use
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Store away from heat and light
  • Do not confuse with therapeutic oral castor oil (medically supervised use)

FAQ

Why is castor oil so thick?
Its exceptional viscosity comes from its ricinoleic acid content (85-90%), a hydroxylated fatty acid that creates hydrogen bonds between molecules. This unique structure gives it a texture that no other vegetable oil can reproduce.

Can castor oil be applied pure to the eyelashes?
Yes, it is one of its most widespread cosmetic uses. Apply in the evening to clean, makeup-free eyelashes with a clean brush. Its adherent texture allows for precise application and good overnight hold.

Can castor oil replace lip balm?
Yes, a drop on dry lips forms a long-lasting protective and nourishing film. Its thick texture is particularly effective for very dry or chapped lips.
