Apicol Propolis Extract — 60 ml

What is Apicol Propolis Extract?
Propolis is a natural resin created by bees from tree buds, mixed with their saliva and wax. Bees use it to line the walls of the hive and seal cracks. Apicol Propolis Extract contains Propolis M.E.D®, an extract characterized and standardized in flavonoids, obtained through a patented extraction process, Multi Dynamic Extraction. This process preserves the full spectrum of flavonoids naturally present in propolis. The propolis is purified: it is free of resins and inactive residues from the hive.
What does research say about propolis?
Scientific literature describes antibacterial and antioxidant activities for propolis observed in the laboratory, attributed to its flavonoids and phenolic compounds. Propolis extracts have shown antibacterial activity especially on Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. Flavonoids abundant in poplar propolis, such as pinocembrin and chrysin, have been studied for their antioxidant and antibacterial activities. These results come primarily from in vitro and animal studies: few high-quality clinical studies in humans have, to date, confirmed efficacy on specific conditions.
A hive product used since Antiquity
Human use of propolis dates back to Antiquity. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans were already using it, with the Egyptians notably employing it in their embalming recipes. The word "propolis" comes from Greek and means "in front of the city," in reference to its role at the entrance of the hive.
