What is Dr.Valnet's Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil?

Eucalyptus citriodora

(Myrtaceae family)

A few botanical notes

Native to Australia, this very large tree (up to 50 meters high) is recognizable by its whitish trunk and its brown bark that peels off in curls. Its lanceolate leaves, which release a lemon scent when crushed, are the main food source for koalas. Sensitive to cold, it prefers warm, tropical or semi-tropical, or even Mediterranean areas. This explains its presence in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, California, India, Madagascar, Spain, and Italy, among others.

Until 1995, classified in the genus Eucalyptus, lemon eucalyptus is now part of the genus Corymbia, hence its synonymous name Corymbia citriodora.

A little history...

For centuries, Australian Aboriginal people applied lemon eucalyptus sap directly to wounds and injuries to promote healing. Traditionally, Cubans placed lemon eucalyptus leaves in the bedding of sick people to reduce fever.

In the 18th century, lemon eucalyptus trees were introduced in Europe to drain marshy areas, curb the spread of mosquitoes, and thus combat malaria.
