Organic Niaouli Essential Oil
Looking for an essential oil with a cineole profile similar to Eucalyptus radiata but with an added sesquiterpene nerolidol component, featuring a fresh, sweet camphor scent and a more complex profile for winter diffusion and cosmetic care for the chest and skin? The Organic Niaouli EO from Herbes et Traditions (Melaleuca quinquenervia, ct cineole) is distilled from melaleuca leaves from New Caledonia. With 55-70% 1,8-cineole and a supplement of viridiflorol and nerolidol, its profile is distinct from eucalyptus and tea tree. 10ml. Ecocert organic certified.
Aromatic and cosmetic profile
- Rich in 1,8-cineole (55-70%): dominant monoterpene oxide, a profile close to Eucalyptus radiata but enriched with specific sesquiterpenes.
- Viridiflorol and nerolidol (5-15%): sesquiterpene alcohols specific to niaouli, which give it a sweeter and more complex scent than pure eucalyptus.
- Fresh, sweet camphor scent: eucalyptus softened by sesquiterpenes, with a distinct slightly floral-woody note. Very pleasant for diffusion.
- 10ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

FAQ
What is the difference between niaouli and tea tree?
Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia) is rich in cineole (55-70%), similar to eucalyptus. Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is rich in terpinen-4-ol (35-45%) with little cineole. Same genus (Melaleuca), but very different biochemical profiles and uses.
Can niaouli replace Eucalyptus radiata?
Yes, for most uses, with a slightly sweeter and more complex profile thanks to the sesquiterpenes. Both are interchangeable for winter diffusion and adult chest massage.
Where does niaouli come from?
Mainly from New Caledonia, where Melaleuca quinquenervia is an endemic tree called niaouli. It also grows in Australia and Madagascar. The Caledonian version is the qualitative reference.
