Organic raspberry leaf herbal tea, 20 g
Discover Herberry's organic raspberry leaf herbal tea: dried leaves in a 20 g resealable kraft bag. Certified organic farming.
The raspberry bush (Rubus idaeus) is a familiar shrub in European undergrowth and gardens, grown primarily for its fruit, but its leaves have also been valued in traditional herbal medicine for centuries. Dried raspberry leaves produce a mild, slightly astringent infusion with a flavor profile similar to blackberry or bramble leaves.
Botanical overview
Rubus idaeus is a deciduous shrub in the Rosaceae family, with arched and slightly thorny stems that can reach 1 to 2 meters. Its leaves are composed of 3 to 7 oval, toothed leaflets, dark green on top and whitish and fuzzy underneath, which makes them easy to identify. The red fruits, the famous raspberries, appear in summer. The leaves are harvested in spring and early summer, before or during flowering, and then dried.
The leaves contain hydrolyzable and condensed tannins (responsible for the astringency), flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol), phenolic acids, polypeptides, and minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium).
Aroma and flavor profile
Raspberry leaf infusion offers a light amber liquor with a clear appearance. Its taste is herbaceous and slightly astringent, with subtle notes reminiscent of the fruit. The bitterness is low. It is a gentle and balanced herbal tea, pleasant plain or with a drizzle of honey, which can easily be combined with other plants.
