Organic calendula herbal tea — Dried marigold flowers, certified organic
Calendula (Calendula officinalis), commonly known as pot marigold, is one of the oldest and most iconic medicinal plants in European herbalism. Its orange or yellow petals, harvested at full bloom and delicately dried, produce a colorful infusion with a warm fragrance. Herberry offers dried calendula flowers, certified organic.
Botanical overview
Calendula officinalis is an annual plant in the Asteraceae family, cultivated throughout Europe since antiquity for both its ornamental qualities and its traditional uses. It blooms continuously from May to October — hence its Latin name (calendae, denoting the first day of the month in Latin), with its large, bright orange or yellow flower heads with brown centers.
The parts used are the ray florets (petals) and sometimes the whole dried flower heads. They contain carotenoids (beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein), flavonoids (isorhamnetin, quercetin), triterpene saponins, essential oils, polysaccharides, and resins.
Aromatic and flavor profile
Calendula infusion produces a beautiful golden-to-orange liquor that is very pleasant to look at. Its taste is mild, slightly sweet, and subtly resinous, with a very discreet bitterness. The aroma is warm and floral. It is a gentle and accessible herbal tea, appreciated both on its own and combined with other plants.

Yes, these calendula flowers are certified organic, with no pesticides or synthetic chemical inputs.
Can calendula flowers be used for anything other than herbal tea?
Yes, dried calendula petals are also used in cooking to color and decorate salads, rice, or desserts. They are also used in homemade cosmetic preparations (floral oil, calendula butter).
What is the difference between calendula and arnica?
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) and arnica (Arnica montana) are two distinct plants from the Asteraceae family, often confused because of their similar orange flowers. Their phytochemical profiles and traditional uses are different. Arnica, in particular, is contraindicated for internal use.
How should I store my bag of calendula?
Keep away from light, heat, and humidity. Dried petals retain their color and aroma for several months in an airtight container stored away from direct light.
